Wondered if anyone can help me with this:

Recently updated a client site to latest WordPress version and also running Nextgen Gallery with WP Smush.

After upgrading to latest versions of all plugins I found when clicking ‘manage galleries’ the gallery admin screen would load but would quickly force on to the standard 404 page for the site.

After a couple of attempts I was then getting blocked by the host as it was being detected as a “rootkit attack, attempts to install shell.”

Only way to fix was to get rid of the WP Smush plugin as this seemed to be causing the issue.

Anyone know of any bugs within the plugin?

    Thanks
    Pete

    Hey Pete,

    Hope you’re well today ??

I’ve quickly tested this on my sandbox site and I couldn’t recreate the issue, please see screenshot https://screencast.com/t/rKrrMkkndr5O.

So I’m assuming this is related to some other conflict preventing Nextgen Gallery from working properly.

Can you please test for conflicts? To do that try using default WordPress theme like Twenty Fifteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.

Please let me know if you find anything ??

    Cheers,

    Hi @pete Media,

rootkit attack, attempts to install shell.

We don’t have any shell files in the plugin at all, it must be some other conflict, are you using any other plugin, also, can you try downloading a fresh and installing it back.

No one else have reported any such errors so far.

    Cheers

    Hello,

    I had a similar occurrence:

    (1) I would click “Manage Galleries”
    (2) Click on “a Gallery”
    (3) Page loads for 1-2 seconds, then goes to WordPress Admin login page
    (4) I try to log back in
    (5) I get ERROR: The password field is empty
    (6) NOTE: The password field is not empty…

Had a web developer take a look and he advised me that WP Smush was the conflict with NextGEN. This was for version 2.1. I also have W3 Total Cache as a plugin too.

Has this been fixed with 2.1.1?

    Hi @djcarl,

We weren’t able to replicate NextGen issue, so not sure if this is fixed in 2.1.1 or not.

If you can give it a try and tell us, in case if the issue still persists, we’ll need your help to sort it out.

if you are facing issue with 2.1.1, Can you please go to:
https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/, and contact us using this template:

Select “I have a different question” for your topic – this and the subject line ensure that it gets assigned to me ??

I’ll sort it out further over there.

    Cheers

    Hi @pete Media, @djcarl,

It appears that the conflict is created because of some other plugin.

@pete Media, it’d be awesome, if you can please send over, a detail of all the plugins installed on your site.

Or best would be, if you could do a conflict check by deactivating all other plugins and reactivate them one by one, unless you replicate the issue.

For sending the plugin details, you can use the contact form over here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/

You can use the above template to send more details.

    Cheers
