Wordfence flagged this as a High Severity Problem:
    * WordPress core file modified: wp-admin/includes/class-wp-site-health-auto-updates.php
I googled that php file and it didn’t come up as a virus anywhere, I don’t think. Does anyone know why it was flagged this way? Thank you for any suggestions.

  • Hi @cgl102770,

That filename itself is not malicious, however Wordfence detected that the file was modified from its original state.

Can you open that file up, and copy-paste its contents into something like pastebin and share the link here?

I’ll compare it to the original version to see if anything was changed.

Thank you very much, it is here:

    Hi again,

I took a look at the file you linked. It is identical to the version found in WordPress 5.2.0.

Can you mark the issue as fixed and re-run the scan to see if the same error pops up again?

Thank you. I ran a scan, it came up again:
    WordPress core file modified:
    wp-admin/includes/class-wp-site-health-auto-updates.php
    Type: File
    Issue Found June 26, 2019 1:10 pm
    High
    REPAIR IGNORE DETAIL

But once again it didn’t say what was wrong, and I guess since you found no changes, it’s a false positive?

I have been getting this false positive on all sites from both Wordfence and Defender Pro for about a month now. Wherever these two draw their files for comparison from, has the wrong version, or perhaps WordPress modifies this file post-installation/according to settings made?
