Just updateed CF7 to the latest version but as soon as I did, it completed and then threw this error at me:

Class ‘WPCF7_FormTag’ not found in /home/xxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/shortcodes.php on line 94

Any idea why this is happening?

  • Me too

I renamed the contact-form-7 folder in filezilla to contact-form-7-1
The site was accessible with an error saying contact form 7 was deactivated, so I reactivated it and it is all working now. Not sure why but it is a workaround.

The error indicates that the plugin update has failed. Try once removing and reinstalling the plugin.

Just tried uploading it but no luck, Still getting the same error.

Uploading? Where did you get the package from?

The CF7 package? Directly here on www.ads-software.com.

Do you have any reasons to install a plugin by downloading and uploading the zip? Why don’t you just search in the Add Plugins page and click “Install”?

Because sometimes using that method actually doesn’t install the plugin properly. ‘I matter the method, the error still shows up and that’s much more important than arguing about upload methods.

The main thing you should be providing is a solution or forwarding it over to someone who does.

That indicates you have general issues with installing plugins in the first place. First, make sure you use the current version of WordPress. Then try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme in order to rule out their interference. This is the only advice I can provide. Good luck.

    Just had the same issue.

If you have any plugins that are older and modify CF7 code. Disable them.

The culprit in my case was:
    Contact Form 7 Calendar
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/cf7-calendar/

Again, disable any plugin that has to do with CF7, then update it.

    Should fix your Fatal error.

It was a conflict. With this (outdated) plugin:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/cf7-calendar/

Do you suggest an alternative that will allow us to offer that datepicker option….that actually works?
