Thanks for reaching out @tnolte. Depending on your version of WordPress and PHP, it’s possible that some deprecation notices may occur, evident usually only via your error logs and without impacting Site Kit functionality. To determine more on this based on your report, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. Did you notice these after updating to the latest version of Site Kit or WordPress, or have you encountered this warning for some time?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

@jamesosborne apologizes for the delay. I have used the form to submit the Site Health information.

We have yet to roll out our next round of patching for the site so it is possible that this issue might be resolved in the latest version, however I’ve not had this issue on any other sites with the exact same hosting and site setup as the site with the issue.

Not a problem @tnolte. I don’t see anything unusual from your Site Health information that may be causing this error, however, I will check this with the team. I suspect this won’t result in any loss of Site Kit functionality. I’ll keep you updated after I check this with the team.

While I am checking this, you can also check whether another plugin configuration may be resulting in this notice triggering in Site Kit, by following the steps below:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Check for the same error.

Regardless of whether you have time to check the above, I will let you know once I discuss this with the team. Thank you.

Thanks for your patience on this. I checked this with the team and the deprecation notice is based on one of the plugin dependencies. We raised an issue for this and it has since been addressed at source. As this is a dependency of Site Kit, it will be reflected in a future plugin release when we are updating to the latest version of dependencies.

For the time being, you can ignore these notices. They don’t impact any Site Kit functionality.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

hmm, this is interesting as it is in my case this is causing the ability to connect Google Analytics to fail with no ability to choose and account or GA4 property.

Sorry to hear that @tnolte. If you can share a recording of your experience I’d be happy to check this further, or try to replicate the same with a similar setup. You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording, while using the same form previously used to share this privately.?

I’m just following up with you to check whether the error remains? If so please share the recording as requested above and we can investigate further.

So, seeing the latest release notes for Site Kit I’m thinking the issue could be related to having Google Tag Manager already configured.

    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/7937

I’m going to work on getting the site updated with this version and I’ll report back.

Updating to the latest 1.121 release fixed the issue with connecting Google Analytics.

Glad to hear it @tnolte, and appreciate the updates. Be sure to reach out if you encounter any further PHP deprecation notices, or if you have any Site Kit queries. Best of luck.
