Classic Block – difficulty in selecting multiple paragraphs, bullets

  • My wife uses the classic block most of the time for posts, since it all stays in one block. She’s noticing that trying to select multiple paragraphs, bullet lists for copying or for deletion is difficult because the selection doesn’t stay selected. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn’t. She is on Brave on Linux, I’m on Safari on Mac so we’re seeing it browser-independently. Sometimes you can select most of the text of a paragraph and it will stay selected. Other times it won’t. It’s very inconsistent.

    I haven’t been able to find anything about odd behavior in trying to select text in editing. What could be causing this?

    It’s hard to tell.

    To rule out any theme/plugins conflict, you may try disabling all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
    It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
    On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

    Thanks, I’ll push the site into a staging environment and give that a go.
