• This has been bugging me. Using the classic editor in visual mode, if I edit a post and update it I always get the dialog box asking if I want to leave the page as if it hasn’t been saved. If fact it has been saved and if I just ignore the warning and leave all is fine. Still, its unnerving.

Strangely if I switch to text mode I don’t get the dialog. If I just switch to text mode and back to visual I also don’t get the dialog. However if I edit in visual mode and stay there I can click “Update” as many times as I want and I still get the warning dialog upon trying to exit the post editing.

If I just disable the plugin and use Gutenburg (ugh) the problem does not occur.

    Anyone else see this?

A new observation: If I wait 30 seconds or so before trying to leave the page I don’t see this. It seems like something in the editor plugin or in WordPress needs time to get notified that the edited post was saved.

If I edit a post, click on “Update”, read the message that the post has been saved and then immediately try to go somewhere else I get the warning dialog.

If I edit a post, click on “Update”, wait 30 seconds, and then go somewhere else I do not get the warning dialog.

    Doesn’t seem right.

I get this too. If only that were all.

I’ve been having all kinds of problems with updates to posts not actually being reflected on the site. That includes everything from font-size changes to deletions and additions. Worse still, it’s inconsistent – almost random.

With my hosting provider helping, I’ve been able to find fixes or workarounds for most of the issues I’ve encountered. However, I’ve now run into a problem with there being inconsistent gutters (or no gutters at all) around left or right-aligned images. When I add media or update, the text is right up against the left or right edge of the image, with no white space whatsoever.

My hosting provider has concluded it’s a coding problem with the classic editor. No way of knowing for sure if this is right, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

    The fun just never ceases.
