classic grid widget – can’t get button to link to external website

Used classic grid widget to make my post archives into a nice grid format.
on each grid section, I want to show a button that links to an external website. I also want to show social media share buttons on each grid section.
on each of my posts, i had put a linked button on the top of each post, and on each post also social sharing buttons are there automticaly bc of a plugin i’m using. that linked button and the social sharing buttons are not showing up in the classic grid…anyone know why?
to work around this, i tried something else. on the classic grid menu, there is a field called “read more custom classes” and we typed in the suggested button code <button type=”button” class=”btn btn-link”>https://www.google.com</button> – but what appears is a link, but when you click on it, it doesn’t go to google, only the post.
so i’m clueless.
can someone help?
is it possible to create a classic grid of posts that has both social sharing buttons and a linked button on it? is it possible to make the classic grid automatically pull these (lined button and social sharing button) from my posts?
