• Hello ,

I recently updated to the latest version of WP. Since then, there have been problems when creating Text widgets (I use the Classic Widget plug-in). Previously, when selecting the “Teaser Widget”, a field for title, subline, url and image selection appeared within the input mask. This has now disappeared.

    Instead, the following is displayed.

    As shortcode:

    [do_widget “Teaser Widget”]

or maybe with id [do_widget id=carbon_fields_teaser_widget-1043] - incorrect unless Classic Widgets is active

    As shortcode:

    [do_widget “Teaser Widget”]

    Save the widget first!

I can't do much with this, as I would like to have my old input mask back.

I would be grateful for any tips on how to restore the old state. I will also contact the provider of my theme (Newspaper) in case the problem lies there.

    Thanks, Frank

Hi @fmert – it sounds like that widget is coming from a third-party plugin (and isn’t one of the included core widgets or shortcodes).

Could you please check in with the plugin developer to see if they can offer any advice?

    Hi @jordesign,

thanks for yout answer, but I am using therefore the Plug-in Classic Widget. It seems that there could be the problem.

Hi @fmert ! Can you share which plugin are you using to provide the [do_widget] shortcode?

    Hi @properlypurple,

I’m not using a special plug-in for shortcodes, because I’ve only been using the Classic Widgets plug-in, which gives me a meta box (title, image upload, URL) so far. My theme is Newspaper, but the developer of TagDiv told me that the reason for this problem is not the theme.

If that is important: I’m not using Gutenberg, so I installed the Disable GUtenberg and Classic Widget plugins. I wonder if it helps to install the Classic Editor additionally? Since my tech colleague is on vacation, I’m trying to solve the problem myself, so forgive my half-knowledge.

    Hi @fmert,

Could you please take a look at your list of plugins and check if there’s another one with “widget” in its name? The Classic Widget plugin you have installed isn’t the source of the [do_widget] shortcode you’re trying to display, so we’ll need to identify where it’s coming from.
