I am sory, I have not been clear.

I do know what it looks like. I just cant find it. I go to the settings page and make some changes, but the short code is no where to be found.

Thank you for your attempt to help me. It is really appreciated.
    Thank you Mary

    Hi Mary,
Have you typed the text [cscf-contact-form] onto your post or page?
Can you give me a link to the page that you have typed it into?
    Thanks Meg

NO, I have not. I can’t find the shortcode at all on the settings page to copy in paste it.

I made some changes, so it would be different than the one in your response.

Also, if I cant find it in the settings page, I worry that it is not working. I have the most recent wp and I use windows 7.

I should be able to find the short code on the settings page, shouldn’t I? Do you know where it is located?.

I have used short codes for two other plugins and they show up easily on the settings page.

There is no shortcode on the settings page before or after I make some setting changes

Thank you for your response, Mary

There is no short code to ‘find’ it is the same all the time.
You must type the exact text [cscf-contact-form] on your page for the form to appear. Your contact page content must look identical to the screen shot I linked to above.
If you do not type this text on your page the contact form will not be displayed.
I think you must be confusing this with other plugins that use variables within the short code that is generated for you. In this case there are no variables so the actual text of the short code is always the same.

I hope I have been clearer this time, my apologies if I wasn’t being so before.

I thank you for trying. I know you must be frustrated but I would like to try to get the answer to this one just one more time. SO I will try to clarify

I know you gave me the short code, but I should have gotten it myself with the plugin —somewhere. But WHere?

And 2) I changed several settings so the short code will look the same but it must be updated in order to reflect them. Do you know where it shows up? On what page so I can copy and paste?

    3) where did you find the short code in the first place to put it here on this inquiry? It is not on the settings page, then where?

    An example.

On contact 7 the short code appears at the top of the page. When I make a setting changes, it still looks the same but is updated and Then I put that one on my page and my settings are reflected.

in this case, I cant find it to copy it and paste it in the first place.
I understand if you cant help me.
Thank you for your time, Mary

    Hello again.

I tried to copy and paste the above code but the captcha didnt work.I suppose that is becasue I have different keys associated with my site.

Where is the code located after the setting and keys are saved?

    This is what I did

I went ot the settings page,
    I changed some settings,
    got the recaptcha keys
    and saved settings.

After that, I am at a loss.
The code isnt on the settings page? DO we go to the main website to get it?

    Thanks, Mary

    Hi DazzelDum,

You need to get recaptcha keys for your site from google. Click the link on the settings page to get them and then copy the public and private keys into the relevant fields then click ‘save’.

When you put the short code on your post the contact form will then display complete with a recaptcha.

I am trying to understand why you are confused about expecting to ‘find’ a short code on the settings page, maybe this will help ….

Contact Form 7 works very differently to this plugin. In contact form 7 you can make changes to the settings and then a short code is generated for you which you cut and paste and place on your web page.

This plugin works differently. It stores all its settings in the database. This means that the short code for the plugin does not need to be re-generated because when it is displayed the code behind it looks in the database for the settings, not within the short code parameters.

The advantage of this method is that you can make subsequent changes to the plugin settings without having to change the short code that you originally placed on your web page.

So my advice to you remains the same. All you need to do to display the contact form is to place the short code I gave you on your page and the contact form will be displayed using the settings that you have entered on the settings page. (If it does not display then we have a different problem).

The plugin is much simpler to use than you think!

Meg, I want to thank you for all this correspondence. SO now I understand.
Where would I have found the code if not for this correspondence? On the plugin page?

After several tries, I regenerated the captcha keys and now it works! YEAH!

The only problem now is that I did not receive a confirm email
(I tested it with my home email).
Does this send a confirm? Not totally necassary for me.

I really like the look of this plugin and the idea of the captcha. Thank you for all your time and effort! Mary

Whenever you install a new plugin it is always a good idea to read the documentation that goes with it. It will save you alot of time! You will find that the plugin short code is mentioned there.

Regarding the confirm email. Do you mean that the form filler is not getting a confirmation email back? This isn’t part of the functionality. As long as you (the administrator) gets an email then the plugin is working as designed.

You have really gone out of your way to help me.
