Clean urls of utm after google gets data?
-
Is there a way to “clean” the urls in the browser location bar after the Google Analytics data has been collected by Google?
Is this something that could be added to Google Analytics Dashboard as an on/off setting? (I’m assuming some code could be added with the google tracking code – which is why I’m asking if it could be part of this plugin)
Here’s what I’m thinking:
If someone comes to my site via an ad or social post where I’ve included utm_campaign, etc in the url, it would be best if all that got cleared out of the user’s browser location once the tracking data has been transmitted so that if the user chooses to copy/paste the url to share with others, it doesn’t contain the campaign info (e.g., if someone shared the link with utm data on a different social network than where I put the ad, then in my tracking it will show as coming from the ad, when it didn’t).Thanks,
Scott
