• Just saw this in my admin area notice (in bold) on ALL admin pages, not dismissable:

Spam Protection by CleanTalk trial period ends, please upgrade to premium version!

As far as I know, this is a violation of the detailed plugin guidelines, see #5 and #11:

Trialware is not allowed in the repository.

Plugins should not hijack the blog admin

And as I already found several violations, here is one more – #13:

The plugin page in the directory should include no more than 12 tags.

Currently I see 79! And it’s also using other plugins names, like Akismet, s2member, Fast Secure Contact, buddypress and dozens of others.

Disclaimer: I’m not related to plugins review team in any way.

@slaffik Thank you for that but can you please do me a favor? Can you report this to the [email protected] email address? That will inform the Plugins team and they can work with the author to correct this situation.

Just received this email about the end of trial soon: https://take.ms/daHUI (domain name was changed)
Posting it here just as a confirmation of trialware.

    Hello,

First of all i should tell thank you for your discussion! Feedback is really important to us!

    1.

Just saw this in my admin area notice (in bold) on ALL admin pages, not dismissable:

We will discuss this situation. I think we change it in the next release.
    2.

Trialware is not allowed in the repository.

We’re not trialware. guidelines item 5:

All code hosted by www.ads-software.com servers must be free and fully-functional

It’s true. All code keeps it functionality even when the trial period for our cloud service is over.

    3.

The plugin page in the directory should include no more than 12 tags.

We have deleted some of the tags so the total number now is 12.
Any way, this is the popular plugins with 12 or more tags:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-seo/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/w3-total-cache/

    Thank you again!

    FYI, this is not trialware.

When we say trialware, what we mean is you cannot have the plugin ARBITRARILY disable itself if you don’t pay. In this case, you’ve signed up for a SERVICE and it’s alerting you to tell you the demo period ran out and you need to pay if you ant it to keep working.

Furthermore, it IS dismissible via an action (paying), and since the plugin won’t work anymore if you don’t pay, it’s acceptable. It’s clearly telling you what needs to happen for the plugin to function.

Serviceware is perfectly acceptable here ?? Otherwise we’d have to ban Akismet!

@safronik – Can you remove akisment from your tags? Unless the plugin directly integrates with akismet (typo ?? ) then you shouldn’t list it.

    Hello,

Thank you for you the the feedback and your position in this conversation.

Yes, we will reconsider our tags.

Thanks for clarification around trialware and how it differs from your plugin. SaaS in plugins is ok, for sure.

But to be honest I don’t like they way your notice is working. It’s huge, distracting and for me – not dismissable. IMO, “pay to hide the notice” is not a good option (although I understand that I will pay for SaaS part of your plugin). I do want to be able to click “Dismiss” or “x” links and hide it altogether. Plugin might display me a second notification (dismissable) when the SaaS part of your plugin is eventually deactivated.

And one more thank you, @safronik, for cleaning up the tags.

    Thank you for your opinion!

We’ll discuss this situation and will find the solution for you and other users.

Please, let us know if you have other questions or suggestions. We’ll be glad to get any feedback from you!

@ipstenu. Done. The ‘akismet’ has been removed.
