“Clear all logs for this 404” – after successfully submitting redirect, can I just say “yes” to this, with the aim being that the incidences of 404s showing on the page will be removed, aka marked resolved, with no other effect on the redirects? thank you!

  • Hi @suzyoo,

The 404 tab is only a log, it has no impact on the redirects you’ve created. If you don’t delete them regularly, the log will grow and grow.

I always delete all the 404 logs for entries that I have already resolved (created a redirect or fixed the origin link etc) or for which I know the 404 is the proper response (bots trying to probe whether you have certain files on your installation, search engine bots checking for pages that are gone etc). I only keep on the log the 404 for entries that need some investigation (and of course I also delete them when I find out what the issue is).

    Regards,
    CB
