Clear filled PDFs from server after a period of time?

    Hi, been testing the plugin and it’s working great! One question, though: I’ve left the “Path for saving filled PDF file:” field blank to disable that functionality, as the instructions mention.

    I see the filled PDFs are still being saved to our wp-content/uploads folder, which makes sense given that they need to be stored somewhere to be sent or downloaded. But does disabling this functionality mean the files will eventually automatically be cleared from our server after a period of time?

    If not, do you have any recommendation for how we might avoid using up storage unnecessarily, without needing to manually delete files periodically?

    Not sure how this works on the back end in general, nor am I sure that we’ll have enough files generated for it actually become a storage problem, but just trying to cover my bases before we go all-in.

    Hi,

    When you use the ‘save’ feature, the plugin creates the path at which the filled PDF file will be saved (wp-content/uploads/whatever/path/you/wanted) and it copies the file to that location. The plugin does not delete that file at that location. If you don’t specify the path for saving, the filled PDF file is simply not copied anywhere. If you later stop using the ‘save’ feature, the previously saved files are never deleted.

    When you use any feature that causes the PDF file to be filled, the filled PDF file is actually (temporarily) saved in a different location (wp-content/uploads/pdf_forms_for_wpforms_downloads). Those files are eventually deleted automatically.

    So, you don’t need to worry about running out of disk space unless you are using the ‘save’ feature. If you are using it and you are worried that you are going to run out of disk space then you will need to come up with some way to periodically delete those files. Perhaps there is a plugin that can be used for this.

    Thanks for the quick response, that’s all very helpful—I did leave the path field blank and found the files in wp-content/uploads/pdf_forms_for_wpforms_downloads. Good to know that those are just temporary, so I think that settles any concern I had about storage. Appreciate the help and your work on this plugin!
