I’m coming here for some help/advice on a theme I’m updating. I originally designed this theme to “float” the sidebar on the right side of the page. There must be a better way.

Any time there is a clear:both in the contents of a post, it pushes the rest of the post to the bottom of the sidebar as you would expect. This isn’t what I want, but I’m not sure how to go about redesigning the CSS to make it work as you would expect with faux columns.

    Here is an example: https://dev.bitfreedom.com/clearing-floats

Instead of floats, I’m using inline-blocks and that seems to work perfectly.

inline-blocks were a little to inflexible to support a fluid-width theme… don’t know why. So I went back and floated both columns.
