Clearing the Thank you … message.

  • Hello Guido,

    I notice that after sending the message, the form (on a sidebar using a widget) is replaced by the Thank you … message. In Firefox, if the page is refreshed, or another page is opened on the same tab, then returning to the original page, the Thank you … message is still showing. Is it possible to have it have it cleared?

    I also found that each time the page is refreshed, it resends the message.

    Good point, did not know about the resending when refreshing te page.

    Have to look into that, so if you have a suggestion regarding how to fix this, please let me know.

    I’m not able to reproduce your other issue.. do you have a link so I can check this myself?

    Hi,

    Did a few tests with both form on page and form in widget… although both forms should behave exactly the same, the one in the widget does not reset itself after submit; including the random number (captcha). That’s why you can resend it. So this must be a cache thing… somehow there’s cache active for the widgets. Might be a WordPress thing? Have to look into this.

    Found it.

    Mistake in file for the widget form.

    The captcha should hold back re-submitting the form because it’s reset before displaying the thank you message. But in a previous update I made a mistake so the captcha isn’t reset. That’s why the form is re-submit when refreshing the page.

    Will update plugin today.

    Sorry not able to get back to you sooner. Thank you for your replies.

    Yes I had noticed that the Captcha number was not changing. That is fixed, but there is still a problem. Now, if the page is refreshed, the old message reappears, but it shows the entry of the old Capcha number with a message: Please enter the correct number. If the new number is entered the message can be resent.

    Correct, but that is quite normal behaviour and not very easy to solve for this type of form (which is using the $_POST[] method). I have to look for a simple but solid solution.

    I know, if you refresh the page after submitting the form and you enter the new number you can submit it again.. but why would a user do that?

    Thank you for your reply. I realise that, if you understand what has happened and don’t put in the new Capcha number, no mail will be sent. However, seeing the message still there, may create the impression that the mail was not sent. It would be great, if you could find a way to clear the old message details.
