    Hi,

I use EWWW Image Optimizer to optimize the images on my website and to automatically convert them to WebP format. In addition, EWWW Image Optimizer also automatically loads the WebP version of an image via “Picture WebP Rewriting”, leaving the JPG version as a fallback. This also works fine.

Only with pictures that are clicked and then appear large in the fancybox (https://de.www.ads-software.com/plugins/easy-fancybox/), this does not work. Here only the JPG version is displayed, although there is a WebP version.

What is the reason for this? Do I have to adjust something in EWWW Image Optimizer or the fancy box? Even if I enter “WebP” in the settings in the file extensions area, it does nothing. Also the settings in the htaccess have been correctly applied automatically.

    Can someone help?

    Greetings

    Hi dajanas,

Have you tried the “JS WebP Rewriting” option to see if that is able to get these? Can you share the site you are seeing this as an issue on as well as the system info from the support tab of the plugin settings? You can share this via pastebin.com or you can contact us directly at https://ewww.io/contact-us/

Hi, I want to keep the website private, honestly, because otherwise it would infer that I am a private person. For me only JPG images are delivered, no WebP versions. JS WebP Rewriting works, but surely .htaccess should be enough?

It depends on the site and what you have running on it. I believe in your other post I shared the WebP documentation which explains the different instances that might preclude being able to use .htaccess. For example, if you are using Cloudflare, you cannot use .htaccess. You have to either use JS WebP or use their Polish feature to serve WebP.

    Ah, okay, thanks!
