Click on portfolio item to open GALLERY in lightbox

    I’m working with the Retro Portfolio Theme. The portfolio section is controlled by a custom post type. What I’m trying to do is create an image gallery for each portfolio entry so that when you click on a portfolio item preview image, the image opens in a lightbox and serves as the initial image in scrollable/clickable/whatever gallery. I have tried tons of gallery plugins, lightbox plugins, shadowbox plugins, creating my own jquery gallery offsite, using the page links to plus add-ref-lightbox plugin trick, etc. Nothing works.

    Does anyone have any ideas as to how to make this happen?
