I recently upgraded to WordPress 5.6 and Events Calendar 5.3.1. We use the basic “Events List” widget in the right sidebar of our homepage. Currently, we have no events scheduled, and when you first visit the homepage, it correctly shows the little icon of a calendar with an X in it and the message, “There are no upcoming events.”

However, if you click on “Contact” (which is a menu item set up with an anchor tag to #footer-acm), the view briefly positions correctly to the footer, but then after a second repositions to somewhere around the middle of the page, and suddenly the Events List widget is displaying a bunch of oversized calendar icons, a search bar, and an export link. This looks especially bad below the 1000px breakpoint, where these icons then expand to the full width of the window.

On my staging server for this website, I haven’t yet updated to WordPress 5.6 or Events Calendar 5.3.1, and this display issue does not occur.

Again, to see the display bug, visit our website homepage and click on the “Contact” link in the navigation bar. On screens under 1000px width, it positions to the footer properly, so to see the display issue, you have to scroll back up.

Thank you for your help with this issue.

  • Hello @pablopaul,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I visited your website and tried to replicate the issue you spoke of but couldn’t.

Did you find a solution to the problem?

    Best regards,

    Hi Marho,

We had to go live with the website, so I removed the widget. I created a clone of the website with the widget in place so you can see the issue:

    https://staging.candlefish.org/

When you arrive at the homepage, scroll down a little to see the right sidebar with the Upcoming Events widget correctly displaying the message, “There are no upcoming events.” Then, click on the “Contact” nav link to see what happens to the widget. You might have to wait a few seconds.

Thanks in advance for your help with this,
    Paul

It’s been three weeks, and we are still experiencing the same issue. What happened to support on this?

Here’s where the staging site is currently updated to:

    • WP 5.6
    • TwentyTwenty Theme v1.6
    • Events Calendar plugin v5.3.1.1

    Hello,

I am experiencing the same issue.
I work with the twentytwenty theme. I use the (free plugin) list-widget, and whenever I hit a link with a # included the widget jumps into a kind of search mode plus displays oversized icons.

    Right now I work with
    wordpress 5.7.1,
    twentytwenty 1.7
and the events calendar plugin 5.5.0.1

I am hoping for a solution here.
    Best regards

It’s been over four months since I’ve received any response regarding this ongoing issue. I recently upgraded to Events Calendar 5.6.0 and this problem still persists.

    Howdy @pablopaul

Apologies for the delay. Our premium support is quite busy and we’ve sadly neglected the free support. We’re working at improving our processes internally to make sure WP.org doesn’t get neglected in the future.

Are you still experiencing this issue? I tried to access your staging site but it requires a username and password to view so I wasn’t able to check.

I just updated to Events Calendar Version 5.7.1, and the issue has been resolved. Thank you!
