    My site: campwillowcreek.com.

When looking at a post, such as https://campwillowcreek.com/parting-shots , if I click on one of the first five or so tiled images in the gallery, the carousel starts on that image I clicked and all is well. If I try to click on an image farther down in the gallery, like the 8th image (in this example, a Christmas tree), the carousel opens on the NEXT image in the gallery instead (a clean truck in this example).

I’ve tried using the 2014 theme, disabling all plugins and searching forums for a solution. When I disable jetpack or just carousel, the images all link to their correct attachment pages. Any ideas on what I am getting wrong here?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Your theme includes a feature named jQuery Colorbox to add a carousel layout over your gallery images:
    https://i.wpne.ws/TFv5

This extra carousel could be conflicting with the Jetpack carousel. SInce you probably don’t need 2 Carousel features on your site, I would recommend removing one of them. If you want to remove Jetpack’s Carousel, you can follow the instructions here to learn how to deactivate the Carousel module:
    https://jetpack.me/support/activate-and-deactivate-modules/

If you want to keep using Jetpack’s Carousel, you can disable Colorbox under Appearance > Theme Options > General uncheck “Open image links in a lightbox”.

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks for the reply and the help Jeremy.

I had that option disabled when I first discovered the problem. I’ve disabled it again and the pictures are still not linking correctly.

I have even tried using the Twenty Fourteen theme to try to rule out an issue with the Pinboard theme, but the images are still linking one off.

Could you try to delete this image from your Media library?
    https://campwillowcreek.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/20131228-IMG_1940.jpg

Then reupload it, and add it to the gallery again. Let me know if it helps.

Ok I deleted that image and the gallery worked fine. Then I re-uploaded it and added it back to the gallery and the gallery is working correctly on that post.

When I went to delete the image from my Media Library, I noticed it had no thumbnail there. I’m having this problem on a bunch of posts that I’ve created and uploaded more than 5 pictures to since upgrading to wordpress 3.8. So I looked through the media library and at least one image per post is missing its thumbnail like that one was.

Do you have any idea what’s causing this?

It seems like an image upload issue. Are the problematic images larger than the others, maybe? If so, you might be hitting the maximum upload size on your server. I would recommend editing your php.ini file, or asking your host to do so, and find the following line:

    upload_max_filesize = xM

You’ll need to change the existing value to something higher.

    Thanks Jeremy,

If I upload directly from WordPress, I don’t seem to have a problem. I tried that here: https://campwillowcreek.com/new-years-christmas-eve

But if I upload using a Lightroom export plugin called LR/blog, that’s when I seem to run into problems. I uploaded the same pictures to this post: https://campwillowcreek.com/2013-12-31-test-with-lr-blog using that plugin and get the mismatched pics again. I will double-check that they are being exported at the same size, but I am pretty sure this Lightroom plugin is to blame.

Either way, WordPress is working as it should and I appreciate all your help in narrowing down the issue and showing me how to fix the broken ones. Have a great weekend.

I’m glad you could find out what caused the problem. Too bad that plugin doesn’t work, I would have been interested! ??

    Have a great weekend too!
