I just cannot print. I already tried flushing the permalinks. Do you have any pointers?

I think i’ve got it: i left all the recipes as drafts to hide them from search results (thus duplicating the posts in which i embed them). That’s why. I now published all recipes so that printing works again.
Is there a quick php edit to achieve printing of draft recipes?
Sorry i cannot unmark this thread as support thread.

Are you adding recipes to regular posts? WP Ultimate Recipe is not really meant to be used like that. If you want recipes in regular posts you should look into our new WP Recipe Maker plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-recipe-maker/

In WP Ultimate Recipe you should just add the post content to the recipe post type and publish that. Then you should be able to print normally as well.

Sorry to hijack the thread. I have around 50-60 old posts with recipes that I will be redoing once I finish my template. Since all those posts have permalinks in place and are ranking pretty well with Search Engines, i’m not in a great position to start from scratch with recipe posts.

My plan was to create all the recipe posts from scratch with the option turned off to treat them as posts. Then in all the old posts, add a shortcode to the specific recipe. That way my permalinks are the same. A couple of questions spring to mind.

    1. Is this not a good idea? I just noticed the Print option doesn’t work for me either when doing it this way.

    2. If I turn off the feature to not treat the recipes as posts, does that mean search spiders won’t find them? Baring in mind i’m only referencing them via a shortcode in the original post. I don’t want search engines to start finding two versions of the recipe, and more importantly without all the other content.

I’m just not sure how I should go about converting all the existing regular posts to the new recipe posts without a change of permalinks and a hit to my SEO. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi Geoff,

For print problem: try enabling “Legacy Mode” on the Recipes > Settings > Recipe Template > Print Version page.

I would still recommend keeping “Recipes act as Posts” enabled. You can keep using the same permalink structure by disabling the recipe slug on the Recipes > Settings > Advanced page and just converting those existing posts to recipes: https://www.wpultimaterecipe.com/docs/converting-old-posts
