Well, I don’t agree completely with you, and first of all, I’m not the developer.
I agree that you should keep on your project, and if you can’t, close it.
For a long time I’ve been using a completely free and amazing multilingual plugin, but the developer could not handle to find time to update it. It’s a kick for all the users, sure, but I know that time is the most valuable thing in life, and first of all you should spend it in something that gives you money to eat. Right? Sure you do this too.
My point is that good things require work, and work must be paid. For that reason, I switched that plugin to another one which is not free, and I paid for that. As I also pay for templates I use and other services. This way I’m sure I’ll have support and updates and I can demand on the developers.
I understand that a project like a plugin must have support, but I think that while it’s a free plugin, anybody can force the developer to work on it.
What bothered to me on Sho-Down was the lack of respect to somebody who gave his time for free. And instead of spending time blaming on him, he would better search for an alternative. Nobody forces us to use this plugin. It’s free, you can’t complain about it, and if you do, pay the developer a beer. I also like to get paid for my job.
As I am in this thread, my language also uses this characters and I have this problem. That troubles me but I can’t force nobody to work for free, so instead of complaining I’ll search for an alternative if I need to.
