I’ve created a few collections for a client, but they can’t see any of them. I tested each one, and in all cases, the password-entry page simply reloads after entering the password. I’ve excluded collections from my cache, flushed caches, and tried setting different passwords to no avail. I tested using Firefox Dev edition, Firefox standard, and Safari on MacOS, client is using Firefox standard on Ubuntu Linux.

    Hi @adrienm,

sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues.

    • Do collections which are not password protected work fine?
    • Can you please send a link to one of those password protected collections to [email protected] so we can take a look ourselves?

    Cheers
    Florian

I tested removing the password and it worked just fine. But I really don’t want any client images exposed to anyone but the client. I’ve sent an e-mail with a link to one of the galleries that has this issue.

    Hi @adrienm!

I can see the issue, it is happening for me as well.

picu uses WordPress’ password protection functionality. As such, please test something for me:

Create a regular page (in your WordPress Admin go to “Pages > Add New”) and give it a password. (If you are using Gutenberg you will find that option in the settings bar on the right, under “Page > Visibility”, click on “Public”, then select “Password protected” and enter a password.)

Can you access that page when entering your password – or is it just reloading as well?

    Cheers
    Florian

It also simply reloads the page.

    Thanks for testing!

It seems to be a general issue with your WordPress installation.

We have a guide on our website that we usually send to users to troubleshoot plugin incompatibilities, but you can use the guide to do some general testing as well.

In your case, after enabling troubleshooting mode, immediately check if the password protected page you created earlier now works. If so, continue testing, activating plugins one by one, until the issue occurs. Then you know which plugin is responsible for the issue.

Please let us know what you find out.

    Cheers
    Florian

It appears the conflict is with the plugin: “WooCommerce Category Locker” by Benchmark (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wc-category-locker/) which seems to be abandoned as it hasn’t had updates in over 3 years. This is unfortunate as I really need to protect my clients’ images in the main WooCommerce store as well. I’ll have to disable it for now so my current client can access their Picu collections.

Thank you for your time and assistance in helping me track this down.

Glad I could be of help – and thanks for posting the follow-up!
