• I’m running Ubuntu Fiesty with Apache, Mysql and Php.
All pages are OK from the server himself as from le local network as from Internet… all pages except WordPress ;-(

WordPress only works on the server itself.
If I try to access https://localIPaddress on a local network client, the browser search and is finally redirected on https://loclahost!!!

I’ve spent the week fixing this issue with no success.

As my DB_HOST is localhost I think I dont have to change this parameter in wp-config.php, but I tried it and when I change it with the name of my server (in hostname and hosts files) I can have the wordpress db connexion error to be loaded.
Conclusion, wordpress is accessible and mysql hostname is localhost.
So why does it redirect client on localhost?

I think I do not exactly understand the usage of the WordPress Address field in Options>General control panel too.

I’ve no real domain name but only a free DNS redirect at no-ip.com

Thanx for your help before I loose my mind.

    Hello,

I’m still testing at this time with this setting:

    WordPress Adress: https://192.168.0.1/wasp

It correspond to the IP address of my server on my local network combined with the folder where WP resides.

Changing this setting make my site accessible from local network, but is it ok for internet (via router) access??

How do wordpress use this parameter?

    Have a good day…

I need help with this also.
I want to be able to access my blog offline using localhost as well as be able to access it externally using my ip address.
Right now, my external ip redirects to localhost which obviously doesn’t work.

Hello, I have the same problem.

I can access the page from my computer, but when connecting from outside,
browser is automaticly redirected to https://localhost/

If anyone has a solution, I would be very grateful, because I am just about do uninstall the whole server thing (apache, mysql….) from my computer.

the solution is not to use localhost in either of the urls, (site and home).

you have an routable IP or you wouldnt be here, so you use that IP or you use a service like dyndns..

changing it requires editing those values in your wp-admin/preferences area.

You have to go to https://localhost/wp-admin from your local PC, go to Settings and change
    WordPress address (URL)
    Blog address (URL
    from https://localhost/ to https://your-site-name/

    Good luck!

I set up wordpress via Fantastico and it set up for my domain, which I have not moved over.

Of course, I can’t log in via the local machine, as it is at my host, and anyway it would keep redirecting to my domain.

Is there any other way to keep WP from redirecting from the IP to the domain so I can get in and change it? Seems to be in the database somewhere?

ok answered my own question. Used phpmyadmin to change the home record of wp_options, then all was well
