It is very likely my mistake, but I noticed this week (launch week) that I was getting a lot of visits to my register page. Then each one would reload the page 2-3 or more times. Then leave without registering.

This morning, I received a message from someone interested in registering complaining that when she tried to login she received a message saying she had tried to login too many times and would have to wait 12 hours before trying again.

IOW, I’ve blundered in my settings somewhere and am blocking new registrations.
Here are my relevant settings :

    Enabled :

User login > Login lockdown ip whitelist settings > Enable Login Lockdown IP Whitelist

User registration > Registration page captcha settings > Enable captcha on registration page

User registration > Registration honeypot > Registration form honeypot settings > Enable Honeypot On Registration Page

Blacklist manager > IP Hosts and user agent blacklist settings > Enable IP or User Agent Blacklisting

Basic firewall rules > Enable Basic Firewall Protection
Basic Firewall rules > Disable Pingback Functionality From XMLRPC
Basic firewall rules > block access to debug log file

Additional firewall rules > Listing of directory contents > Disable index views
    > Trace & track > disable trace & track

    6g blacklist firewall rules > 6g blacklist/firewall settings > enable 6g firewall protection
    > Enable legacy 5G Firewall Protection

internet bots > block fake googlebots

404 detection config > Enable 404 IP Detection and Lockout

Brute force > rename login page
Brute force > login form captcha settings
Brute force > Enable Captcha On Lost Password Page
Brute force > Enable Captcha On Custom Login Form
Brute force > Enable Captcha On Woocommerce Login Form
Brute force > Enable Captcha On Woocommerce Lost Password Form
Brute force > Enable Captcha On Woocommerce Registration Form
Brute force > Honeypot > Enable Honeypot On Login Page

    Kindly help!?

    Hi,

This morning, I received a message from someone interested in registering complaining that when she tried to login she received a message saying she had tried to login too many times and would have to wait 12 hours before trying again.

Did this person register or were they trying to register? The reason why I am asking is because in the message above you mentioned when she tried to login. The login action means the person is already a member in your site.

    Thanks for the reply.
She needed to load the page multiple times before being able to register. She then did register. But our system forces members to go to their email to validate it. When she then returned to login she receives a message saying she’s made too many attempts to login and gets blocked for 12 hours. I went thru the same issue yesterday. As did my host.

No such issue on register/login page when plugin deactivated.

Hi, try the following. Make sure the plugin is activated again, then disable all Firewall Rules. Then carry out a test.

Also before you begin make sure you clear the browser cache. If you have a cache plugin installed in your site, also make sure you clear the plugins cache.

    Let me know what happens.

    Thank you
