• Today I fielded my third call of the month with an existing client asking whether we can use something other than WordPress for their future builds, specifically because they hate the Gutenberg editor. Comments like “I haven’t been able to make a post in months” and “I played with this thing and after a couple hours I just gave up” are becoming commonplace in these calls.

Having access to a Gutenberg-free site is top priority for literally every client who has tested the editor. Roughly a dozen of our clients now have at least tested it on a fresh install, and every single one has asked us to make sure their site doesn’t use it in the future. We’re doing more work with CraftCMS as a result, but the Disable Gutenberg plug-in is a godsend – we’ve worked with WP for almost 10 years now, and everything else about it works so well. I’m thankful we don’t need to give up on WordPress, at least not yet, and this plug-in is a big part of the reason why.
