Hi, I’ve just cloned a site from the dev subdirectory to the webfoot directory. So now I’m trying to optimise the Wordfence Firewall for the main website on the webroot. The PHP settings file that is to be included is referring to the dev subdirectory and not the webfoot.

I am also still getting email notifications for login that refers to the dev site, even though I’m logging in to the main site now.

Is there a setting I have forgotten to change somewhere? Please assist, thanks.

  • Hi there,

Did you sign up for a new Wordfence Free License on the wordfence site?

I would recommend doing this and replacing the license if you haven’t already.

All sites require their own unique license key.

    Best,

    Hi Joshua,

I think I did when the site was in development but when I cloned it to go live, I didn’t. ?How should I go about it now? ?Should I go to Wordfence Central and start from there? ?Do I need to remove Wordfence plugin first? If I do have to remove plugin and reinstall, does it mean that all the admin users will have to setup their 2FA again? ?Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers,
    Karen

Just so it is clear, we have 2 copies of the site now – one dev and one live. We started in the dev and then cloned to live.

    Hi @karencheah

I recommend doing a fresh install to avoid any database errors or path errors. This will remove all 2FA and other settings

    1. On the Wordfence Dashboard > Global Options page in the section General Wordfence Options select “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation?” and click “Save Changes”
    2. On the Wordfence > Login Security > Settings page select “Delete Login Security tables and data on deactivation” and click “Save Changes”
    3. Uninstall the Wordfence plugin normally through WordPress admin??
    4. Wait about 10 minutes (not really necessary but I always like to give a system more time than it needs)
    5. Reinstall Wordfence from the WordPress admin
    6. Request your new Free License key

    Thanks,

    Joshua
