    Hi everyone,

So basically the first time I attempted to change the URL on my site I failed miserably, so I decided to just clone the website in a new cpanel account, and go from there. (going from .info to .net)

Things are definitely a bit wonky. I uploaded a plugin via FTP and it doesnt even show in the WP backend. Auto updating of plugins doesnt work either, it goes through the motions but never updates.

It’s so odd, I’m at a total loss as to what to do next. I ever went through the sql and changed the domain of all the hardcoded stuff.

    Thoughts?

Old domain was thegravelpit dot info – new one is thegravelpit dot net | You can see the difference between the two.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    You have already changed the HOME_URL & SITE_URL: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL

You should also update all instances in the database where the old url appears. This may be stored within serialized data, so a simple search & replace may not be successful.

A tool to achieve this is the interconnect/it serialized search & replace tool. This is not a plugin but a script that needs to be temporarily installed on the server: https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Hi cube, thanks for the reply. Originally I replaced everything by just editing the sql file with notepad++ .

I ended up redoing everything and used the script you linked. It worked real well however it still seems to be in the same spot. Updating plugins does not work, permissions seems to be a bit wonky for some reason or other?

I use an older version of the download manager and when I try to download a file it gives me a ‘plugins/download-manager/cache/ must have to be writable!’ error, yet the permissions seem to be the same as on the old website.

    Any other suggestions?

:edit: Plugins still don’t show up in the admin panel when I upload them via FTP
