• Hi all.

    I have an interesting issue.

    Ive been making sites based on a master ‘clone’ installation, all has been working fine, and I can turn-out the installs in a few minute.

    My issue is this;

    When i clone the site from – dev.mydomain.com – to its new home – https://www.someothersite.com – all works well. No issues.

    However, I have a demo area – demo.mydomain.com – and I went through the same process to clone the site into this location. And this it where it falls apart.

    I have checked the database and done a replace on the old URL string – all is well. But the new site – which copies perfectly – still has all internal links pointing to the old domain.

    Does anyone know of a specific issue with non-www prefxed site URL’s ?

    Again, this works fine so long as the new URL has a www. prefix..

    Anyone ?

    Is it a Permalinks issue ?
    Can I force the Permalinks to refresh without using the wp-admin UI ?

    Scratch that.. All sorted.

    It helps hugely if the correct config.php file has been applied…

    Incidentally, the process I have in place for cloning a WP installed site is high effective.

    Having looked at the scripts out there that do the same thing, I think my process is as fast, if not faster.

    Its a great way to get confident with your database and learn about the codebase.

    Happy hacking..
