Cloning replaces % with {randomcharacters}

I’m experiencing the same issue! I’ve probably used WP Clone 100 times in the last couple years and it’s the first time I’ve ever experienced a problem (certainly this one).

I’ve got the same problem… It’s new and a systematic way…

Same issue. Affects many sites which use Visual Composer because it uses URL encoded links containing ‘%’ behind its buttons and other UI elements.

Same problem. This problem also existed on InfiniteWP. A % symbol turns into the same string throughout the entire database. {e3bcf94201aecf888079dfb4c00e73b4fa7553179f89c6325b80e62014379f1a}

Same issue and as mentioned earlier this is something that did not happen in the past.
I think it started after the last update.

Changed behaviour of esc_sql() in WordPress 4.8.3

Before I run a wp-clone backup, I take a 4.8.1 version of /wp-includes/wp-db.php and temporarily install it on a 4.8.3+ version (just for the backup). After the backup, then I just restore back the original wp-db.php file.

It works for me.

I fixed the issue using Better Search & Replace plugin.

Make sure you BACKUP first though!
