    Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been receiving a more than usual amount of Spam comments. All comments are automatically sent to be moderated before appearing, so I have always dealt with them by moderating them and then since they’re produced by a bot, I close the article they are attacking, to comments.

However, I’m growing VERY tired of them doing this and I have far too many articles to keep it up. I am trying to figure out how to close ALL my articles to comments. I can’t seem to figure it out though.

Can anyone help me in finding out how this is done? I think it’s possible through myPHPAdmin, right? But I don’t have a clue about how to globally close every article that way.

I appreciate any and all help in this issue, and thank you in advance!

  • In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Discussion and uncheck the box labeled Allow people to post comments on the article.

That won’t close them on older articles. You’d either have to close it on each old post or in phpmyadmin in the posts table changing the comment_status to closed on your posts.

Thanks for the help! I did try going to my phpmyadmin and changing the comment_status to closed, but I might not have done that in the right place. I’ll have to check it again, as these spam comments are getting even more ridiculous!

I like to have the legit comments already posted in the past still visible though, so removing the whole comments section may only be a last resort. Of course, I may just tweak the code to remove the comment form for entry. . .
