Has anyone used the cloudflare option on W3TC?

And if so, what’s your feedback on the service?

  • When you have a resource-hungry app, and a shared server, it is easy to drive your app beyond its means. I did just this this past week.

When you have a cache plugin, and a minifier plugin, and then a cache proxy after that, dev gets tough. Latency builds.

You can turn all this stuff off before dev. Or, you can do dev on localhost.

IMHO, it is best to give CloudFlare a clean copy to work with, then stand back while it does its thing. If you can do that the results will be good.

Anyone having issues with cloudflare in W3TC?

I’m currently using the W3 Total Cache Plugin w/ Cloudflare. I also have a a host (Media Temple) which is hosting partner with Cloudflare. Which option is best for using Cloudflare with my WordPress site, via the W3 Total Cache plugin or via my host’s cPanel?
    Thanks!

    Hi,

I would just activate via MediaTemple. While CloudFlare is indeed an option in W3TC, it does require having a domain using CloudFlare in some way (signing up directly, or activating via a Hosting Partner).

If you need help with the CloudFlare W3TC settings, here you go: https://support.cloudflare.com/kb/troubleshooting/what-fields-do-i-need-to-enter-in-w3tc-w3-total-cache-settings

OK, thanks for the quick reply!
    I’ll activate it through MT.

Glad to help. Some other quick tips to help minimize confusion when coming aboard through a hosting partner: https://blog.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-tips-top-tips-when-activating-thro

Hi, since the update of W3TC the other day I have a problem with Google Adsense. The google adsense section just display a blue rectangule. I tried with the development mode on cloudflare settings and disabling minification on W3TC. And still not showing ads. Everything was fine before the update of W3TC.

I am pretty clear, I think, on settings for CloudFlare, but are there any special recommendations for specific W3TC settings to use with CloudFlare? or to exclude?

I don’t have a lot of hits but I do have large posts with images.

    My blog is at
    https://lgrossman.com/trudel/

As you’ll note the blog does not have a separate domain but is on my old site. It appears that CloudFlare is caching all of the domain https://lgrossman.com . It may be my imagination but some huge old pages there seem to be flying now. A side benefit of using CloudFlare which I seem to have installed almost accidentally through W3TC.

OOps two more question: I have two different back up systems. Myrepono, which is weekly and PressBackup which uses AWS as for storage. I use that immediately after a new post. Can I use my Amazon AWS as a CDM account for W3TC as well.

And should I have put caching into development mode before attempting a backup.

Ps Thanks Damon for getting back to me via Twitter. I didn’t see you had posted here until after I posted.
