Well, the CDN support setting has been initially designed for such purposes, however it is still experimental, due to the way that CDNs work.
If the CDN allows url GET parameters on images then this setting should work relatively well. Relatively means that some images might be delivered in their original size and not resized, but nothing catastrophic will happen.
If the CDN does not allow url GET parameters on images, ie it strips them away then our plugin is actually delivering the images untouched and not resized.
I guess we need some more testing there and we are working on a more stable solution for CDNs in our next version. However I would love to hear you feedback on this and I could even check it out myself if you shared your website with us.
