clunky and awkward

  • Really difficult to style. If you would like to modify the css in any way, be prepared to argue with it for a while.

    Supposedly the new version uses custom post types, which should help a lot…but it’s just awkward and clunky. I would like the option to have the submission section on a separate page. Perhaps the option to provide my own stars graphic instead of the ugly yellow ones…

    It stopped working randomly and I deleted it and reinstalled a fresh copy. That seems to have fixed things.

    Sorry about the styling. A lot went into it to try and prevent issues with themes overriding our styles. There’s only so much you can reset with it.

    I’ll look into allowing the ability to provide your own rating stars graphic which might get tricky with the different CSS that could be involved. A better option might be to provide several options for the display of the reviews. I’m allowing editing of some of the templates on the settings page, so you could technically have it output however you would like if all goes to plan.

    I have planned to include additional shortcodes and php functions you can call within your theme so you could have a separate page for submitting the reviews.

    Thanks for using the plugin and look forward to v3. We’re very close to inviting beta testers to provide feedback on it.

    Have you considered using dashicons or font awesome for the stars? That might help with the styling. (I created my own graphic and overwrote it in the plugin….)

    We’ll look into the option for using web fonts for the stars. It’s actually a really good idea with modern browsers and all. The other option is to provide multiple images but nobody will ever be happy even with 50 options ??
