• I downloaded this based on the number of positive reviews. Having tried to set it up I can only assume I was using a different plugin to everyone else!

For starters, I’m trying to set this up via my phone. The setup page is not optimised for mobile, so I had to put my phone in portrait mode and use a tiny, floating keyboard to input the fields. Every time I clicked ‘save’, the page loaded to the bottom at their Premium advert, so I then had to scroll back up to the section I was just working on.

After setting it up and saving, my icons weren’t appearing. Go back to the settings page and the plugin had deselected my preferred location.

After getting it load, it kept adding icons I didn’t want. Go back to the settings page, and the unwanted icons are not selected. Odd, especially as I had disabled caching.

Finally, after checking on my phone and deciding they looked ugly, I looked to see if there was a mobile version for the icons, a pretty standard request. There is, but it’s a paid feature.

I might try again on the desktop because it has a strong feature set, but honestly, in the time it took me to finally get the icons I wanted, I could have coded my own share buttons. I’ll probably do this anyway because I really only want basic functionality. Because this is a pretty complex plugin, I worry about site performance.

    Sorry, I tried!

Thank you for your detailed feedback @demonboy, let me quickly address some of your points.

I see that most of your issues seem to come from the fact that you tried to configure the plugin while on mobile. It’s true, our plugin isn’t optimized for that. We always assumed almost everybody does it on desktop, but apparently that assumption isn’t correct, at least in your case.

Regarding icons not appearing, or the wrong icons appearing: that’s very strange. When icons don’t appear it usually points to caching somewhere, but the wrong icons appearing, I don’t think that’s technically possible if you haven’t selected the respective icons.

Regarding optimizing it so that the icons should look good on mobile: for several placement options they already do look good on mobile, but you’re right, it’s not for every selection. We could make that free too, but then the question becomes what the incentive is for us to offer and maintain such a plugin with so many features (it’s real work…)

Yes, please give it a chance on desktop. And if something doesn’t work, we’re happy to provide support for free in the forum.

Thanks for the reply, Nick. To be honest, I do most of my backend stuff on the desktop but I’m trying to spend less time on the computer so I’m doing more stuff on the mobile. I suspect I’m not the only one who does backend stuff on a small screen. I notice a number of plug-in dashboards are optimised for mobile. Just as a random example, Wordfence plays nicely on a mobile in the backend.

I appreciate the point about needed to charge for features. I’m not averse to paying for plugins but having to click three times to disable an option because of popups asking to pay is frustrating.

I will try again on the desktop.
