What formatting are you users using that adds the span tag?

The “text color” button, which I have since disabled, was adding span tags.

I seem to be having similar problems with people pasting from Word. The formatting shows up in a variety of ways. Example below. This in WP 4.0 Multisite and bbPress 2.5.4.

<p style=”margin: 0px; font-size: 12px; line-height: normal; font-family: Arial; color: #0b1b33;”><span style=”letter-spacing: 0.0px;”>When I got the assignment to build ideas and campaign for the<b> Preemptive Love Coalition</b> I was immediately drawn to the name. It embraces equality, love and coming together. They are working consistently towards <b>their mission</b> to help in the efforts of getting young Iraqi children the various surgeries that they need. Decades of violence destroyed Iraq’s hospitals and left children to die, but we have a proven process to save lives and remake the world. They are interested in helping these children with long-term success and health. These are just some of there core values, the “Pursuit for peace” and “Hope for the Hopeless” are some of the accompanying values. </span></p>

I’m loving this plugin as well! but i’m having the same trouble with all the functions in the second row of the full editor when a subscriber is logged in. The codes showed up!

Is there currently a fix to the problem with codes showing up?

    thanks!

I’m still having trouble with this, and would love to hear from Jared about a possible fix.

Users have a nasty habit of pasting in a bunch of code without realizing it. They copy something from a website, and it looks fine in the visual tab….and then after they submit the post, some tags are not permitted, and they surface in the final display.

It seems like the solution would be to strip those tags instead of converting them to display text. The ugly mess this creates is making me want to go back to plain text.

Rather neanderthal, but what about a block against pasting? Or a warning message/option to go back: “you used HTML in your post, and it will be ugly”? I know that kind of defeats the purpose of the plugin, but users and staff are getting frustrated.

It’s not easy to train end users….they have no idea what they are doing, and they don’t read prompts like “you can use BBcode” (not that they would know what that means anyway).

    Any solution?

The code is being displayed when I post using the visual tab once this plugin is enabled. Seems no one has the answer, and I don’t think the posters here are incompetent, not doing something right or have strange and special configs. I have tested on several sites, and the code is always posted when using this plugin. Anyone able to get over this hump? Its a shame BP decommissioned this, and that this doesn’t work.

The same issue here. I think, it′s a problem of bbPress.

I am also having the same problem.
When creating the topic, everything appears OK, however when posted only codes.
Already accomplished tests and is really the plugin. to remove it, it works perfectly.
