Collapsible section in Sidebar

  • Hey guys!

    I want to make a section in the top of my sidebar that is collapsed, so the user will have to click a link (or button image) to expand the content.

    This will not be a widget, just a section of divs i have coded into the sidebar-[post-type].php file. The section contanins some download links for various platforms based on custom fields and QR-codes for scanning with a smartphone. So the content is all figured out, but it looks messy. I would like this section to be hidden/collapsed by default.

    I have checked out some plugins for collapsing content, but all I can find are plugins made for collapsing content within a page or a post with the use of shortcodes. These shortcodes does not seem to work in a template file like the sidebar.php.

    Does anyone have an idea of how i can achieve this? (I’m not an experienced coder)
