We have an e-commerce store that fulfills orders via a drop-ship arrangement with a supplier. That supplier will charge us the sales tax for whatever state or country the item is being shipped to. Thus, we need to calculate and apply an appropriate sales tax to the order when it is placed through our store.

This functionality is obviously possible via the Woocommerce auto-calculate tax functionality. However, the WooCommerce auto-calculate feature appears to depend completely on the store location for nexus and there is no setting to request that tax be autocalculated for all customer shipping locations.

All of our products are marked as taxable and set to standard. However, no sales tax calculation is applied to any of our products regardless of customer shipping or billing address.

How do you properly configure this plugin / feature of WooCommerce to charge sales tax on all orders, for all products, in all countries / states?

    Hi there!

I understand your concern. Here are step-by-step instructions to guide you on how to set up the tax settings with the plugin so they apply to all products:

Also, if you’ve set everything correctly, please follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned here:

Let me know how it goes!

Applying tax to all products is not our issue. We want sales tax to apply for ALL customer shipping locations. Our issue is that the WooCommerce auto-calculate feature appears to depend completely on the store location for nexus and there is no setting to request that tax be autocalculated for all customer shipping locations.

Our company is using a drop-ship company to fulfill orders that charges us sales tax and remits it for ALL shipping locations in the world. We simply need to have the sales tax calculator calculate and collect that sales tax for all regions. It is obviously capable since it has that data. We just need to configure it not to limit sales tax calculation to a “nexus” or define our “nexus” as everywhere. How do we configure it to do this?

    Hi there!

Sorry for the confusion, Indeed by default WooCommerce Shipping & Tax?uses your store address to calculate the tax. by defualt there is no such option to change that settings. However, If you need to charge tax for any other states, you can add a?tax rate?for each state in addition to using automated taxes to charge customers from that state tax as well. Sonce we mention here https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-shipping-and-tax/woocommerce-tax/#automated-taxes-do-not-appear-to-be-calculating

Alternavtively, it requried a customization to change the settings. If you need more in-depth support or want to consider professional assistance for customization, I can recommend?WooExperts?and?Codeable.io?as options for getting professional help. Alternatively, you can also ask your development questions in the??WooCommerce Community Slack?as custom code falls outside our usual?scope of support.

    Thank you
