Hi. I have a site that has a lot of colour contrast issues. Instead of changing the colours, would you recommend creating a page that allows the user to change the colours themselves? (see link for example). This seemed to be a popular choice a few years ago, but I don’t see it much these days.

Also would you recommend adding TTS to a website or is making it accessible to screen readers enough?

    Thanks very much

Hello Sam, thank you for your question. Here is some general guidance that I hope you find helpful:

While adding text-to-speech or offering something that allows users to alter color schemes on a website can both be helpful features, these are generally considered “supplemental” in nature. The best and most ideal solution will always be to ensure that the default experience meets commonly accepted accessibility standards.

For color contrast, meeting WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratios should be the default state. Once that is achieved, if you want to take things to the next level and offer users a “high contrast mode” toggle that ratchets up the contrast even more, that is a very nice thing to do.

This support forum is specifically for questions or issues related to the Accessibility Checker plugin, and not general accessibility questions. For that reason, I am going to go ahead and mark this ticket as resolved.

If you need further assistance with this, please feel free to reach out to me via the Equalize Digital contact form, and I will be glad to share some additional resources and links with you at that time. ??
