• Hello:

I have a page where the majority of the content takes up 2/3 of the page which leaves me 1/3. That 1/3 is the right hand column. I’m using for that right hand column this code
    [one_third_last] [/one_third last]
    I’ve even tried
    [one_third last] [/one_third_last]
The problem is that the short code is showing up on the page so it can be seen. Why is it and how can I get it not to show up on the web page?

  • what exact plugin are you referring to?

I just looked at all the plugins that are on the Plugin page and what would seem obvious are not even Activated. My WP guy doesn’t seem to using any plugin. Is that possible to just use column short codes without using a plugin?

I found a site that lists column short codes that can be used but there was no mention of using a plugin of any sort.

From my original message why is the code showing up on the page?

These are the plugins and their status.

Advanced Category Excluder – Not Active
Advanced Category Excluder Widgets – Not active
    Custom sidebars – Active
Featured Post with thumbnail – Active
Page Links To – Not Active
Posts from a Category Widget – Active
    Recent Posts Plus – Active
    Simply Exclude – Not active
Ultimate Category Excluder – Not active

Is that possible to just use column short codes without using a plugin?

some themes have those kind of shortcodes integrated.

    what theme are you using?

From my original message why is the code showing up on the page?

what is the exact code of your post/page content?

is your use of the shortcode based on any ‘read-me’ or other instructions?

    It says
    theme1493
    By Template_Help.com

    [two_third]
    content
    [/two_third]

    [one_third_last]
    content
    [/one_third last]

from the list of plugins, it seems that the shortcode might be coming from the theme.

have you contacted the theme’s provider for support?
do they provide instructions with their themes, or do they have a site with information?

unfortunately, the theme is not from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/ and is therefore not fully supported by this forum.

what happens with the shortcode output if you temporarily switch to the default theme Twenty Twelve?

Sounds like the theme is not applying the shortcodes as it should be. The theme might be old and need updating. You could contact the theme developer and see if he can help or try a column plugin like this one –

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/columns/

    or this one –

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/grid-columns/

Don’t want to switch. The site is 98% done and don’t want to mess with it. My WP guy would have a fit. I’ve not contacted the theme dev. I was just looking for a quick answer as to why the code is showing up on the page because that same code is being used on other pages and it doesn’t show up on the web page. Look here and you’ll see what I mean. Right and column.

Not about to upgrade the theme and have something go wrong. My WP guy would be pretty pissed if he had to redo everything and not get paid.

As I mentioned that same code I posted here is being used on other pages so it does work and does not show up on the web page itself. But yet on this page it is.

The short code works as it should putting the content where I want it.

Its just that the code is showing up on the web page and of course it shouldn’t. That is the issue. Can someone please tell me why it is and how to make it not be seen?

Look on the right side above the below the content.

Fixed it. The code was a bit wrong. I looked at another page to see what was done and made it the same way so now the code isn’t showing up on the page. Thanks everyone for your input.

The short code works as it should putting the content where I want it.

this just indicates that the ‘two-thirds’ shortcode works, nothing wlse.

I would say, wait for your WP guy to get back on the job, or contact the theme’s developer.

Can someone please tell me why it is and how to make it not be seen?

    no –
without the ability to check through the theme’s templates, there is not much what this forum can try to help.

one last thing: try to add a space character before the [one_third_last] if there is none.

    (@scottkr)

    It needed to be this

    [one_third last]
    content
    [/one_third]

I had it a bit different from this so now the code is not showing on the page.

I don’t understand what the difference is with having an underscore or not having one in these short codes.
