I have been using table press for about a year now.I have always used table press as an off the shelf table with no alterations.

I now have a table that is just too many columns for the page width & I would like too narrow the columns, problem is I just do not know how to use short code, is there a work round for this please?.

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

If your table is too wide due to the number of columns, reducing the column width will likely not help (as the columns should already be at their minimum widths).
Can you please post a link to the page with the table where this problem happens, so that I can take a direct look? Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

yes, as I had thought, reducing the column width would only be possible if you make the words in the first row more narrow, e.g. by reducing the font size (but making them less readable) or adding line breaks in them (word wrapping).

A good idea for this table could be the TablePress Extension from https://tablepress.org/extensions/datatables-fixedcolumns/ , which can fix the first column on the left during the scrolling.

    Regards,
    Tobias
