Columns not aligned

I have two equal columns in a page on my WP blog, and for some reason, I cannot get the two columns aligned – the second one seems to drop below the first on, even though I inserted the code for every picture on the page.

Any idea how to align the two columns – what am I missing?

I am also not sure how to center the images in each column – can I do it once for all, or do I have to add code to every column-code?
