• Hi!

I don’t know if it’s the right place to ask my question, but I don’t have a better idea.
So, I have a wordpress.com website (a blog) which I would like to move to a www.ads-software.com host with easyphp, so I can use plugins and everything. I downloaded them and everything, but I stopped at a point.
I imported the content from my blog to the new page, and I stucked.
So, first of all, I cannot log in to the new site. I used the same username with a different password and I made myself the author after importing the content. Now I log in at 127.0.0.1/wp-login.php and it leads me to the wp.com log in page.

Basically, although I don’t understand the whole logging in thing, my question is how the heck do I create a site where I can import my existing content and use plugins???

Hope you can understand it, and thank you.

  • Hi,

You have to create a fresh installation in your hosting or localhost if you work with that.
Then using import tool/plugin you can import there your content, but important be sure that fresh installation works well, then start to import your content from wp.com

Peter Cralen is correct, but I’ll add a bit to his comment.

Before even worry about your wordpress.com blog, you’ll want to make sure that you have WordPress working at all. Install wordpress on localhost without any of your .com blog. You can do this by following this tutorial for a more custom experience.

Or you can use the microsoft wpi installer to not only install WordPress, but all its prerequisites as well. I consider this the “quick and easy” route. This uses Microsoft’s IIS to host your webpage (the built in http server for windows). I personally think its self explanatory, but here’s a tutorial if you need it.

Once you have all that done and your site looks like the plain old boring WordPress the its time to import the content you exported from your wordpress.com.

Here is a tutorial on how to export wordpress.com content if you havn’t done so already.

And here are two tutorials on how to import the information First Second

Thank you so much, hopefully I can do this. And one more thing: I bought a .com domain instead of .wordpress.com, can I redirect it somehow to the new one? Or how is that work? Thanks again!

    Hi,

    Check this https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
If you have any question regarding wordpress.com you can contact their support, they respond fast.

To run your wordpress on .com domain. You must have a hosting account and point your Name Servers to hosting in domain settings page.
