• Since updating to 4.6 WordFence has flagged over 800 files in various core folders on the server created by com.apple.quarantineq. These files are usually created by a Mac on a download before it is opened. They are prefixed ._ and look something like this:

    Mac OS X 23?ATTREì5??M?Mcom.apple.quarantineq/0000;56731288;Safari;23D9D266-3EBD-4675-9689-C7F389F60B25|com.apple.Safari

They always mirror a normally named and proper php file.

Now I didn’t upload all these. Where did they come from? Are the WP developers working on Macs? Is it anything to do with the new system for using system fonts?

  • You need to identify exactly which plugin you are using and then post in that plugin’s dedicated forum via its page in the Plugin Repository.

This has nothing to do with plugins. I am talking about core WP files. Therefore this is the correct forum.

This is very odd. All the files have now gone.

Well, if anyone else experiences the same, I would be interested to know, or if anyone has any idea what it could have been. Hopefully it is nothing sinister.
