  • 4 separate blogs under 4 different subdomains

If you have a regular site (HTML, ASP, etc) and you want to keep the consolidated blog in a subdomain, then choose which subdomain you want to keep. That will be your “blog home base.” From the three other blogs in other subdomains, go to Admin – Manage – Export – All Authors and save to hard drive. In your blog home base, go to Admin – Manage – Import the XML’s.

If you want to bring WordPress to domain root – example.com/
Then install WordPress at Root – and import the XML’s of the 4 blogs. Btw, are you using one database for all blogs or a database per blog? Next steps depend on your answer.

We are very interested in this as well in our art project.

It would be great to use one database for all blogs.

On the home page, we would like to have the latest two postings (including photos) of each blog. And, we would like to have the newly updated blog go to the top of the others…

Right now we have just one blog, many category and two authors dedicated to each category. Ideally it would be great to have a home page listing all categories by time. Each category showing two recent posts with photos…

We truly appreciate any lights you can shine on the project.

Hello. I also would like to know how this can be possible. I have two blogs I would like to combine. One blog acts as my book information blog with my up coming cookbook release information, book cover release as well as my bio, news and events. My other blog acts as a diary for my culinary journey with recipes, cookbook pre-production information and other mouthwatering post.

I would like to be able to feature some of the recipe post with photos on the book blog as well as other updates regarding my cookbook progress. Any information would be most helpful. Thanks so much!!!

@cuetable: site URL? Note quite sure what you mean by “It would be great to use one database for all blogs” when you say next paragraph “Right now we have just one blog.” Because in effect you only have one database right now.

@lfowler: I would suggest that you export XML from the blog which has the LEAST number of posts and import it into the blog which has the greater number of posts. I am assuming your two blogs are using WordPress platform.

    mercime,

    >> It would be great to use one database for all blogs.

i was just commenting on your post before…

we have only one blog now and about 15 categories with 2 authors to each category (30+ registered authors).

we’d like to create a “Recent Happening” page showing all categories ( recently updated one goes to the top ). Inside of each categories there are two posts total by two authors. (the authors are pre assigned to the categories and will not post in any other categories) Inside of each post there always is a photo ( which we’d like to include in the “Recent Happening” page

Thanks very much for your help!

    Cheers

my four blogs are in four separate databases

So you want to consolidate all blogs? Just go to Dashboard – Manage – Export XML of each of 4 blogs and save to hard drive in different folders.
Just Manage – Import the 4 XML’s/WXR’s of each blog into a new blog where you’ll combine the blogs OR import 3 XML’s into the blog you decide to keep and delete other blogs to avoid duplicate content.
