Commas between multiple superscripts, AND MORE!
-
Hey Jason,
This may be a bit obscure but I thought I’d raise it anyway.
There are situations when you want your footnotes to be bibliographic, and situations where you want them to be truly footnotes. I came across the same issue trying to using Katie Seaborne’s Zotpress footnote plugin as well.
While easyfootnote does a SUPERB job with “plain” footnotes, it does not work so well where you want to use it to refer to your bibliography.
To look at what one might think of as a middle ground, if I want to refer the reader to two different sources at present, I have to either put both sources in the same footnote, or I have to use two footnotes. However, if I do the latter, I do not get a comma between the superscripts, of course.
Nor, because it is not really what it is supposed to do, can I reference individual entries from different text locations.
So, while what I am suggesting would require a substantial rewrite (enabling the writer to essentially create an array with tokens that can be employed throughout the piece, again, along the lines of what Katie did) it would substantially extend the functionality of your plugin for more sophisticated users who did not use Zotero.
