Comment approval problem

On the Dashboard page, in the Recent Comments column, I had a comment pending approval. Along the bottom of the comment was Approve | Edit | Reply | Spam | Delete . I clicked Approve, but that didn’t seem to “take.” So I clicked into the Edit Comments page and did the same thing, clicked that Approve link. It didn’t work from there either. I had to check the box next to the comment and select Approve and then click Apply and that worked. Any thoughts? Using ver 2.8.4.
