    Before I say anything else, yes, I have checked all the boxes on my posts to ‘allow comments.’

    I cannot see a comment box on the bottom of my posts. I am using the Lodestar theme, though it seems a few other people out there have the same unresolved problem on other themes as well.

    The post from the reference url [ redundant link removed ] actually already has a comment from my old website (imported it to WP) but that does not display on the bottom of the post either.
    I am in the single-post view looking at each post (yes, I am using posts, not pages) and none display a place for someone to leave a comment. I have selected the option to ‘allow comments’ on every post. On someone else’s suggestion I have tried to ‘deactivate’ every single plugin with no change. I deleted all ‘Extra CSS’ with no effect. I have viewed the pages in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, none of them display any comments or a place to leave a comment.
    I have been trying to figure this out for hours and have read many, many posts and articles about it and nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP

    Two places?

    1. Settings -> Discussion

    2. Where you create/edit posts or pages in admin, check if you have ticked comments for your posts/pages in the “discussion” box below the editor. If you don’t see the “discussion” box there, in the ‘screen option’ dropdown field (located near the top right), there are tick-boxes to show the ‘discussion’ box for the posts/pages. Tick mark it. In the ‘discussion’ box below the post/page editor, you can then allow/disallow comments for the page.

    Thanks for your input, I actually forgot to look at the Settings > Discussion one, but alas, everything there looks correct, too. Not it.

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

    I have disabled every plugin and changed themes to Twenty Nineteen and still cannot see the comments or comment box

    OH MY *** Haha Got it. There’s another box on the Settings > Discussion page that ‘closes’ comments on posts older than x days. I read it as comments that are older than 28 days, but it actually mean old posts. Turns out since I backdated my posts they were ‘disabled’ by default…

    So, thanks for bringing my attention back to that page, anyway!

    Glad you got it sorted ??
