• I am using a network site and Twenty Ten Theme.

I am making style changes to the CSS and not changing much else.

I have created some test posts and published them

When I view them there is no comment box

In the post edit there is a comment widget that says “no comments yet” with NO option to do anything else

In the discussion settings there is nothing to tick to switch comments ON

I cleared the cache and cookies

I have deactivated all plugIns and that made no difference

I changed theme to Twenty Ten ..no change

I re-installed Twenty Ten ..no change STILL NO comment box

I installed ARRAS theme and with that it said the comments were closed but it did show the default avatar

Could someone please tell me what I should do??

  • Has the Network Administrator on which your site is installed disabled comments?

Hi Chip… I discovered the problem… In the posts edit->screen option , the discussion module was not ticked by default and as such was not appearing .. Whilst there was a comments module I did not realise that there was a separate discussions module. Once that was ticked and visible I could then tick comments on …
Incidentally how does the Network Administrator disable comments? Are you suggesting that can be done Network wide? I looked in the Network dashboard but there are no settings there ..just general domain and domain mapping settings
    thanks

I’m not sure if the NetworkAdmin can do so. It was a shot in the dark.

(I need to remember the Screen Options changes in 3.1. They seem to be causing issues for a lot of people. Brilliant UX decision, that was. :/ )

Hi, I am using the Twenty Ten theme for my blog. Several weeks ago, the comment box stopped displaying on my posts. I have tried installing bits of code in the theme editor per some other people’s suggestions but nothing is working. I have comments turned on in the discussion settings and in the screen options. I have the 3.21 version of WP. I have not upgraded because some of the details indicated that people were having problems with that version. I have enough problems.
I have always received comments on the main post page, without difficulty. I am not high tech, so I would really appreciate any help, with my low-tech capabilities in mind. Thank you.
