• Hi,

I’m looking for a plugin that will notify registered users of new comments made to any post that they are interested in.

To give a scenario to explain:

Let’s say that Joe as one of the contributors to a blog makes a post.

Then Tim, a registered user, likes Joe’s post, and wants to see what further comments are made in response. I would like for a plugin to be installed that allows Tim to check a checkbox.

Then once he does this, when Mary comes along and makes a comment on Joe’s post, Tim will receive an email at the address that he signed up with.

I would like that Joe (and any other registered user) could also tick the checkbox so that they also get emails notifying them of comments made to the post. The notifications don’t have to contain the comments.

Can anyone point me to a plugin or core WP functionality that will do this? I have seen the ‘Settings’ > ‘Discussion’ options, but they will only allow the Admin to receive notifications. I also checked out the Post Notification plugin, but that was confusing, and it wasn’t clear whether it would do what I want or not.

    Many thanks,

    Kwerri

  • Alrighty, so I’m looking for the converse option: My contributors are receiving notification when commenters submit comments on their posts, and I don’t want them to receive those notifications.

My options are set up so that I receive e-mail notification and that all comments must be moderated and that only registered users can comment.

    Any ideas?

I’ve got a similar issue to kwerri – trying to work out how I can have individual post authors notified.
The description here, and in https://is.gd/dq9sM would seem to suggest that the default is that post writers get the notification.
However, i’ve tried and it’s only the admin getting them.

I’ve tried both with my test user as an “author” – self publishing & also as a “contributor” with the admin publishing.
In all cases, I’ve had an anonymous person writing the comment.

It’s set so that anonymous users can comment, but it has to be moderated on the first post.
    See screenshot:

Clearly, I’ve set something up incorrectly, but I’m mystified as to what it could be!

One way to accomplish that is set up a email forwarding address on your domain. Have it forward to multiple email addresses. Then use that forwarding email address as your admin address on the general tab. The emails will be sent to all the addresses that receive emails sent to that forwarding address.

I just wanted to say that stvwlf is a genius!
