Comment Notification via Email

  • I am not receiving emails when comments are written for my blog posts.

    Under the discussion tab, I have this box checked: “Email me whenever… Anyone posts a comment”

    I have tested this many times, and receive no email of notification when a comment is left and awaiting moderation.

    Now, if I check the subsequent box: ” A comment is held for moderation” then I get an email to BOTH the author email address AND the admin email address. I don’t need two email because the posts on my site are created by me (author and admin). Not sure why this options sends the emails to both.

    My understanding from reading in Codex is that the first option, “Anyone posts a comment” should send notification to the author and that the second option, “A comment is held for moderation” should send notification to the admin.

    Please help me resolve. Thanks!

    Don’t know if this matters or not, but here are my selections in the next section of the Discussion setting: “Before a comment appears… 1) An administrator must always approve the comment and 2) Comment author must have a previously approved comment (SELECTED).
